SDA Urges Government to Close Schools

The SDA is concerned that 24 new community cases of Covid-19 have been reported across students from 5 schools to date.

We ask the government to implement a temporary closure of schools and private tuition centres for the safety of our children, teachers and their families.

Adults have already been told to refrain from going to office and work from home where possible.

At this juncture, the Ministry of Education should be looking to implement home-based learning and online lessons across all schools to prevent further transmission of the virus.

It is not enough to ringfence schools with confirmed cases and hope for the best, especially when there have been multiple instances of asymptomatic transmission.

The government has taken a gamble and lost regarding border control.

It should not be taking another gamble with the health of our children.
