Elderly folks we spoke to were notalgic about the “PAP of the Past”.
They commented on the hands-on “fix-it” approach of the early generation of Singapore’s leadership.
In contrast, the new generation is more “money-minded” and out of touch with the needs of Common Singaporeans.
Young families we spoke to echoed these views.
They raised concerns about the high cost of healthcare, and the ever-increasing Basic Retirement Sum, which will rise to $106,500 next year.
They worry whether they will have enough to retire seeing how fast prices and taxes in Singapore have been increasing over the years.
The SDA has been raising these issues. One thing we’ve been telling the government is, “Fix Problems, Not People.”
