Over the weekend, we paid a visit to residents of Sumang Link!
Besides aircraft noise and pesky pigeons, many also spoke about the high cost of living and how this has led them to tighten their belts.
Especially price increases at kopitiams and hawker centres, with some stalls raising prices by as much as 40 percent.
It seems that besides increasing rental costs, stallholders also have to shoulder prices increases of ingredients and utilities.
A part of this stems from the 2 GST hikes, which affect prices across the supply chain, and increase in water prices.
The SDA will raise this issue of rising food prices, together with our plans to address the root problems of rent and cost of basic supplies.
