The ugly issue of shrinkflation surfaced again in chats with residents of Pasir Ris St 52.
Residents were unhappy that while prices of food at hawker centres and kopitiams have gone up, food portions have gotten smaller or lower in quality.
We believe a key cause for this is greedy landlords, and a lack of government regulations.
The problem of steep rental increases is also what we have heard from our chats with hawkers.
Just recently, there have also been reports of rents going up by close to 3x for some of them!
The SDA will tackle this issue in our proposal to set fairer regulations on rental.
