Lowering Cost
of Living

Millions of Singaporeans are getting squeezed tighter every day.

The government’s response? Policies that make life even tougher.

Tak Boleh Tahan!

The man on the street does not need technical details to tell him that the cost of living in Singapore is going up while wages stay stagnant, especially for the working and middle class.

Average Singaporeans are not earning million-dollar ministers’ salaries. That’s why we are feeling the squeeze every day.

Take a look at how prices have changed in the last 5 years. Our salaries can hardly match the increase in prices of basic goods and services

Instead of thinking of ways to ease the burden of Singaporeans, the PAP-led government introduces new taxes, and increases the rate of existing taxes.

This is not right.

The gap is widening

Take a look at how prices have changed in the last 5 years.

Our salaries can hardly match the increase in prices of basic goods and services.

And that’s not counting other costs that we have to bear in our daily lives.

No wonder, year after year, our belts feel tighter and wallets lighter!

What does the government do? Whack us harder lah!

Instead of thinking of ways to ease the burden of Singaporeans, the PAP-led government whacks us even harder.

Prices of goods and services will soon rise even sharper because of new taxes and upcoming tax hikes.

It's time to make them pay!

The SDA proposes reducing the GST to 3 percent for basic items such as food, common household products and other essential items.

The SDA also proposes a progressive GST taxation system of between 3 percent and 15 percent, where basic goods are taxed the least and luxury items are taxed the most.

The PAP-led government has also seen it fit to splash billions of dollars of taxpayers’ dollars on extravagant public projects.

To name a few of these lavish projects - the upcoming Founders’ Memorial, Changi Jewel and the monolithic Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

While development of new infrastructure is necessary, expenditure must be exercised with prudence – especially when long-term maintenance costs is taken into account.

The SDA proposes a more stringent set of checks prior to the approval of expenditure on vain-glorious mega-projects, and channelling savings yielded to developing our most important resources – our people.
